Cameroon is targeting a second consecutive U-20 Women's World Cup appearance as the Indomitable Lionesses face Tanzania in a decisive qualifying tie. Poland will host the tournament from September 5 to 27, 2026.
Hassan Balla, the first coach in Cameroon's history to qualify for the competition two years ago in Colombia, remains at the helm with a clear objective: to do it again. Balla described Colombia as a valuable experience that gives them much to build on. To secure their place, Cameroon must get through the final round of CAF qualifying against Tanzania, having won the first leg 3-1 in Yaounde.
For this final stretch, Balla emphasizes the need for composure and patience, warning that Tanzania is a well-prepared side with physical strength and technical ability. In pursuit of qualification, Balla has introduced younger players as part of a long-term strategy. Among them is captain Maeva Nyadjou, who at just 18 could still be eligible for the next edition. Nyadjou says the World Cup means a great deal to her and the team wants to make history for Cameroon, aiming for the title in Poland.
