With 40 days until the World Cup, we highlight another spectacular goal from tournament history, this time from USA's Jermaine Jones against Portugal at Brazil 2014.
Jones was on the team bus heading to the Arena da Amazonia when he saw a social media post from USWNT star Alex Morgan, who had posted a selfie in her number 13 shirt with Jones' name on it. After backing from one goalscoring great, Jones went and outperformed another. Cristiano Ronaldo may have drawn a blank in the 2-2 draw, but nothing could stop Jones' sensational strike.
When an American corner was cleared to him, Jones jinked inside Nani and brilliantly bent the ball home from outside the box. The result ultimately helped the USA edge Portugal for a knockout-phase place.
