With 42 days until the World Cup, we revisit Joe Cole's memorable mistake that turned into a magnificent goal for England against Sweden at the 2006 Germany World Cup.
Joe Cole admitted he made a mistake. He was 30 yards out on the left when Niclas Alexandersson's headed clearance bounced toward him. Cole later recalled not actually realizing how far out he was and admitted it was a terrible decision to shoot from that distance. Fortunately for Cole, he unleashed the strike of his life, swerving the ball beyond Andreas Isaksson and into the top corner. The goal helped England secure a 2-2 draw and advance as group winners. Cole concluded it was the best bad decision he ever made.
